Dr. Leisa Carson
Owner & Veterinarian
Dr. Leisa Carson received her doctorate in veterinary medicine from Colorado State University in 1992. Her first job was in Washington at Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital in equine medicine. After working there a year the partners transferred her to the satellite clinic where small animal medicine was added to her duties as well as managing the hospital! In 1995 she moved to Canyon City, Colorado to be closer to her family, and 1 year later finally home to Ft. Collins. She continued her career at Harmony Hospital for Pets. During her 10 years there, she found her true passion was small animal medicine, surgery, and dentistry. In 2007 she joined Dr. Margaret Baxter, the founding partner at The Vets Animal Hospital. In 2011, Dr. Carson’s lifelong dream of owning a practice came true; she purchased The Vets Animal Hospital. Dr. Carson continues to run the hospital on Dr. Baxter’s philosophy; high quality medicine at a reasonable price.
Additionally, Dr. Carson runs Bits-N-Pieces 4-H club and continues to be the organizational leader. Many kids in the club are in the Lease A Dairy project in which The Vets Animal Hospital purchases the cattle and all necessary supplies so the kids can gain experience in caring for the animals and learn about the agriculture industry.
Leisa is also an active volunteer in the community and school. In 2010 she was given the “Above and Beyond” leadership award from Larimer County 4-H program and in March of 2013 was chosen to receive the 9 Who Cares Award for her volunteer work in the 4-H programs.
In her spare time Dr. Carson loves spending time with her husband, Ken and their 3 children. On her days off you will find her and the kids out in the arena enjoying the horses. Her family is rounded out by a herd of Springer Spaniels and several cats!

Brielle
Technician Assistant
Brielle was born and raised in Fort Collins and absolutely loves it here. She has always loved animals since she was very little and knew in middle school that she’d want to pursue a career that incorporated them. As a high school senior, Brielle decided to introduce herself into the veterinary world by attending classes at Front Range Community College. It was through this program that she landed her internship that turned into a job at The Vets. She has taken enough classes that she has the qualifications to test to become a Certified Veterinary Assistant, and she is currently at Colorado State University pursuing a degree in Zoology. In her free time, she enjoys dancing and performing with the local professional company High Performance Dance Theatre. She currently has a guinea pig named Anakin, but knows she will get more pets once she’s out of college and can afford the care for them. In the meantime, she gets her animal fix by hanging out in the back with all the wonderful patients that come through the hospital!

Hello! This is Sarah, a born and raised Colorado native. She graduated from Colorado State University with my Bachelor’s in Microbiology in December of 2019. Having been in the field since 2015, she plans to continue her education in the veterinary field in the future. She has always had a passion for animals and medicine, and is surrounded by family, friends, and team members that share that same passion. Sarah is excited to continue her career with Dr. Carson and her team to keep our furry family members happy and healthy. There is not a fur free moment in her life thanks to her Labrador, Izzy and two cats, Truffles and Jack. When the chance arises, you can find her enjoying the Coloradoan outdoors hiking and fishing.
